SMS usage surging ahead in Canada
The Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) announced that Canadians sent more than 20 million mobile-to-mobile text messages during the month of November alone. This represents enormous growth in the eight months since the April 2002 launch of North America's first inter-carrier text messaging network by Canada's four major wireless carriers - Bell Mobility, Microcell Telecommunications (Fido), Rogers AT&T Wireless and TELUS Mobility. The inter-carrier messaging network was created and is operated and maintained by CMG Wireless Data Solutions. Since the introduction of inter-carrier text messaging, the volume of messages sent by Canadians has increased by 98%. more
