MTN Upgrades Messaging Options for South African PrePay Customers

South Africa's MTN has upgraded its messaging platform for its PrePay customers, offering callers to its subscribers who are unavailable the option to either leave a voicemail message or send a text message. Previously prepaid subscribers had to choose between two options; regular voicemail or an SMS notification service (called VoiceMail Lite) which sent subscribers information about missed calls but had no ability to record a message.  more

TynTec Launched "Distributed" SMS-C Platform

Mobile messaging services provider TynTec is launching a new distributed SMS-Centre (SMS-C) architecture. With this new prodct, TynTec is introducing a 'multi-homed' SMS-C capability as well as dynamic routing in the SS7 network, thus enabling TynTec to provide its customers with an improved quality of service in SMS transmission by having several delivery options through different hub operators.  more
