AdMob Sees Rising Apple Device Traffic from Western Europe/Asia
Mobile advertising agency, AdMob has reported that while North America leads with 58 percent of iPhone and iPod touch users, Western Europe and Asia have increasingly become popular geographic regions, representing 26 and seven percent of Apple device users, respectively. The worldwide ratio of iPhone to iPod touch users in the AdMob network was roughly two to one in June; although this varied from region to region, this ratio has remained relatively constant over the last several months, implying a similar growth rate for both devices worldwide. more

Jakob Nielsen Says Mobile Websites 15-Years Behind for Usability
It is neither easy nor pleasant for people to use the Web on their mobile phones, according to a report released today by user-experience research firm Nielsen Norman Group. In usability studies conducted in the US and UK, researchers found that the average success rate for users completing tasks on the mobile Internet was 59 percent compared to an average success rate of 80 percent for websites accessed on a regular PC. more

DoCoMo and Telefonica to Introduce Windows Mobile Handset by Toshiba

Hike in telecom capex expected in 2H09, though overall capex still down in 2009
Market research firm Infonetics Research has reported that global service provider capex (capital expenditures) hit a plateau at $298 billion in 2008, marking the end of a five-year investment cycle. This represented a 12.9% increase in capex spending from the previous year, with much of the growth due to currency appreciation against the US dollar, which peaked in July 2008. more

Half of U.S. Mobile Phone Users Access Mobile Content on a Weekly Basis
According to a new study released by research and consultation firm Frank N. Magid Associates, 51 percent of mobile phone users access internet based content using their mobile phone on a weekly basis. What's more, mobile content users spend about the same amount of time with content (39 minutes), as the average user does texting (38 minutes) or talking on their mobile phone (44 minutes). more

Over Quarter of Young Canadians Using Mobile Internet Services
Canadians are becoming captivated by "mobile surfing" - increasingly accessing the web from their cellphones and smartphones daily. Polling conducted by Ipsos-Reid on behalf of Rogers Wireless showed that 26 per cent of wirelessly connected Canadians aged 18-34 are accessing the web from their mobile devices everyday, and of that, 65 per cent are browsing from their mobiles multiple times a day. more
