Etisalat Upgrades Mobile Instant Messaging Service

­United Arab Emirates (UAE) mobile network operator, Etisalat has launched an upgraded Mobile IM (MIM) service powered by Colibria's Instant Messaging & Presence Service (IMPS). Etisalat's new MIM service, Etisalat Messenger, not only enables subscribers to communicate with both individuals and groups via MIM, but also incorporates Presence to allow subscribers to publish their presence status, picture and mood to their contacts.  more

Lack of Education Restricts Growth of Mobile Instant Messaging

Research released today by instant messaging vendor, ProcessOne, has revealed that 60% of mobile users would send less text messages if they were better educated about how to use mobile instant messaging (IM) services. Despite many more of today's mobile handsets having IM capability only 35% of the users surveyed currently used mobile IM with text messaging remaining the dominant communications medium.  more
