China Unicom Launches Unicom Push Mail Powered by SEVEN

Mobile push email vendor, SEVEN has announced China UnicomÃ's launch of a push email service. SEVEN established a local network operations center (NOC), to support China Unicom in launching the service on its network. SEVEN says that it is the only foreign mobile email provider to address this growing market by establishing a NOC in China.  more

Nokia Expands Support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

Nokia is expanding its support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to work on all Nokia S60 3rd Edition phones. The company says that a total of 43 phones will feature the Mail for Exchange mobile email application. Nokia also announced today that Mail for Exchange will be available out-of-the-box in future releases of Nokia Eseries and Nokia Nseries devices.  more

More Tussles Over India's BlackBerry Security Dispute

The ongoing dispute between the Indian government and BlackBerry maker, Research in Motion took another twist when, in a submission to the Department of Telecom (DoT), the company claimed that there are four other companies with equally secure email platforms. The company said that targeting BlackBerry handsets and ignoring the others would not solve the security concerns that the Indian government says are behind its demands for access to BlackBerry emails.  more

Visto Settles Mobile Email Patent Dispute with Microsoft

Mobile email vendor, Visto says that it has entered into a settlement and license agreement with Microsoft involving cash and non-cash consideration, thus ending a two-year patent dispute between the parties. Specific terms and conditions of the agreement are confidential. Both companies will dismiss all pending legal claims.  more
