TeliaSonera Sales Up on Currecy Gains - Profits Flat

Intelligent Congestion Management Can Reduce Mobile Broadband Costs

Camiant, which offers mobile data policy control software has commissioned a report which finds that active management of mobile broadband congestion can result in cost savings of upwards of 20% for network operators. The report, written by Omnitele, concludes that controlling the bandwidth consumption of certain users solely during peak hours allows maximum usage of the network by all subscribers when capacity is available while constraining the need for additional network capacity.  more

Hong Kong Mobile Data Users Transfer Average 44Mbytes Per Month

Hong Kong's telecoms regulator, OFTA has published for the first time the statistics of local mobile data usage, which sees a surge to 147 Terabytes (i.e. 147,000 Gigabytes) as of January 2009, or an average amount of 44 Mbytes per 2.5G/3G mobile user for that particular month.  more

Orange UK Cuts Mobile Data Download Costs

Orange UK has sharply reduced the cost of its basic mobile data package - which the network operator says is aimed at small business users. The current tariffs of £5.00 for 10MB and £6.38 for 250MB have been swept away with a single £4.25 tariff which offers 500MB of data downloads.  more

Singapore's StarHub, in partnership with Huawei has announced the launch of StarHub's HSPA+ upgrade - offering peak mobile data downloads of up to 21Mbps. Nokia Siemens Completes 2nd Phase of China Mobile TD-SCDMA Rollout

Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that it is one of first vendors to complete phase two deployment of China Mobile's 3G network, based on TD-SCDMA technology.
