Wireless Data Roaming Wins Gold During Beijing Olympics
With athletes and sports fans pouring in from all over the world to attend the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, wireless data roaming turned in a gold medal performance according to data released today from data roaming exchange provider, Aicent. Data from Aicent's roaming eXchange services shows a surge in wireless data roaming traffic exceeding 40 percent over the same period of days the month before. This increase in roaming traffic resulted in more than 332 GB of data being exchanged between 225 mobile operators in 106 different countries on the Aicent network. more

Hutchison 3G Italy Ordered to Suspend Debt Collection for 3G Data Charges
Hutchison 3G Italy has been ordered to suspend debt collection procedures against customers who are contesting their mobile data charges. The Italian Competition Authority issued the order after it launched an investigation to determine whether the operator had used unfair commercial practices regarding tariff plans for internet use. more

Orange UK Expands WiFI Coverage
UK network operator, Orange has signed a deal with WiFi provider, The Cloud to allow its subscribers to use the WiFi network as part of their mobile subscriber contract. Orange already has WiFi agreements in place with BT OpenZone, France Telecom and WeRoam. In the UK this latest agreement extends Orange's WiFi access to more than 10,000 hotspots. more
