Rapid growth within mobile broadband continues
The number of mobile broadband subscriptions in Sweden increased by 50 per cent to 1.31 million during 2009, reports the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS). Mobile broadband continues to be the most rapidly growing service within electronic communications. The number of mobile broadband subscriptions increased from 877 000 on 31 December 2008 to 1 310 000 on 31 December 2009. This represents an increase of 50 per cent. more

3G Operator, Hi3G Granted 900Mhz Spectrum in Sweden
The Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) has made the decision to approve an application from the operators TeliaSonera, Swefour, Tele2, Telenor and Hi3G for frequencies in the 900 MHz band. The present licences in the 900 MHz band will be renewed and it will be possible for the operators to phase in new technology for mobile broadband while at the same time continuing to offer GSM mobile telephony. more
