84% of UK consumers have experienced QoS issues with Mobile Broadband Services
New consumer research published by YouGov and Acision again reinforces the Quality of Service (QoS) challenges operators are facing with their mobile broadband services today. The research, which questioned UK consumers about their mobile broadband experience found that, despite the rising popularity of mobile broadband, 84% had experienced Quality of Service issues. Slow speeds are amongst the most encountered problem (67%), poor network coverage (49%), inability to get connected (45%) and connection loss (40%). more

Mobile phone usage relatively safe from spending cutbacks

Vodafone Found to Offer UK's Lowest Roaming Data Download Charges
A study carried out by price comparison website, Broadband-Expert, has revealed massive discrepancies between the UK's top 5 mobile broadband providers for data usage abroad. Orange was the most expensive, charging £3.94 per Mb inside the EU and £6.32 per Mb outside the EU. Vodafone were found to be the cheapest provider, charging £9.99 for a day's use of up to at 50Mb inside the EU (which equates to 20p per Mb). more

BSNL Launches 3G Services in 11 Cities
Ericsson has issued an update on its Sept 2007 contract win from India's BSNL - and says it achieved the country's biggest simultaneous launch of 3G services to date, across 11 major cities. As part of its roll-out strategy, BSNL plans to launch 3G services using WCDMA/HSPA technology across more than 700 cities in the first phase. more
