O2 UK launches location-based mobile marketing

Telefonica O2 has launched location-based mobile marketing services in the UK, enabling brands to deliver SMS and MMS to consumers in a more targeted manner than ever before. Starbucks and L'Oréal are the first brands on board for the six-month trial, which relies on consumers opting into the service to receive relevant messages dependent on their age, gender, interests and for the first time, their location.  more

Vodafone Considers Swapping Google for Yahoo

Vodafone is reported to be considering switching its mobile search service from Google to Yahoo when their existing contract expires at the end of this year. Citing people close to the matter, Bloomberg News reported that the talks are still ongoing, and that Yahoo is not the only firm Vodafone is talking to.  more

UK Operators to Define a Common Standard for Mobile Advertising Reports

The GSM Association (GSMA) announced that the UK's five network operators, Vodafone Group, Telefonica O2 Europe, T-Mobile, FT-Orange Group and Hutchison 3G, have formed a working group to define common metrics and measurement processes for mobile advertising as part of the GSMA's Mobile Advertising Programme.  more

Ad Infuse Mobile Advertising Platform Hits 160 Million Impressions per Month

The mobile advertising agency, Ad Infuse says that it has closed 14 new mobile advertising and marketing deals and 22 new publishing deals so far in 2007, with several more expected before the close of the calendar year. The company also announced that inventory across its content channels will exceed 160 million impressions per month as of October.  more
