CTIA Reports US Mobile Data Revenues Jumped 39% in 2008

The US trade body, the CTIA has published the findings of its semi-annual industry survey, which includes numerous positive metrics on the industry's continued growth and popularity. In particular, wireless revenues showed impressive year-to year gains, as wireless data service revenues for the year 2008 rose to more than $32 billion. This represents a 39% increase over 2007, when data revenues totaled $23.2 billion. Wireless data revenues for 2008 amounted to nearly 22% of all wireless service revenues, and represent what consumers spend on non-voice services.  more

Samsung Shows Off Touch Screen WiMAX Phone for the US Market

Samsung Mobile has announced the upcoming availability of its WiMAX enabled mobile phone, the Samsung Mondi. The touch screen Mondi, which takes its name from the Latin word for "world," is designed for use with the Clearwire WiMAX  network.  more

China's Mobile Services Market Continues Strong Growth

China's CCID Consulting has reported that in Q3 2008, China's mobile value-added services maintained rapid development. The Olympic Games brought about more telecom services, but without benefiting carriers significantly. After years of rapid development, China's mobile value-added services industry needs a breakthrough to support its development in the future.  more
