Wi-Fi Pushing Radio IC Market to $4 Billion in 2013

Vendors will ship $4 billion in Wi-Fi radio chips in 2013, most of these for cellphones, notebooks, netbooks, infrastructure, home entertainment systems and wireless gaming consoles. Doubling the Uplink Capacity in LTE Based 3G Networks

In a recent lab test, Nokia Siemens Networks has shown how a Virtual Multiple Input Multiple Output (mimo) method can be used for the uplink in LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks. Using the SDMA (Space Division Multiple Access) technique two standard mobile devices, each with only one physical transmission antenna, communicate with a base station simultaneously and on the same radio channel. more
