Millicom has signed an agreement for the sale of its 74.1% holding in its Laos operation, to Russia's VimpelCom for approximately US$65 million in total cash proceeds, payable on completion. The transaction values the entire Laos operation at an enterprise value of approximately $102 million, which represents 7.5x estimated 2009 EBITDA. more

Millicom Sells Sierra Leone Network
Millicom International has sold its Sierra Leone subsidiary to Africell Holding for an undisclosed amount. The operator, trading as Tigo was earmarked for sale by Millicom late last year, shortly after the regulator announced that all operators would be required to reach a minimum of 50% population coverage by the end of the year. more

Millicom Q2 Revenues Up 5% - Profits Down by 13%
Millicom International has reported a five percent rise in Q2 revenues to US$814 million compared to a year ago but a drop of 13% in net profits of $114 million, down from the US$132 million a year ago. In Q2 09, Millicom added 1.7 million net new mobile subscribers, reaching 30.8 million total mobile subscribers, an increase of 25% versus Q2 08 as Millicom continues its focus on attracting the more loyal and higher revenue generating customers. more
