Nortel's former CEO Mike Zafirovski has submitted a claim for over US$12 million from the company, with more than half going towards his company agreed pension. Nortel Networks reported a 25% drop in second-quarter revenues to US$1.97 billion, with declines in all segments and regions and increased by 14 percent from the previous quarter. The company reported a net loss in the second quarter of 2009 of US$274 million, compared to net loss of US$113 million a year ago. more

Nortel Gets Permission to Pay $45 Million in Staff Bonuses
Nortel Networks has received authorisation from the Canadian and US Bankruptcy courts to pay bonuses of US$45 million to its staff and managers. Eight of the executives will share up to US$7.3 million between them, as part of an overall US$23 million bonus program for 92 senior managers. A further US$22 million has been earmarked for 880 key employees. more

Nortel Reports Loss of $3.4 Billion - Cuts 1,300 Jobs
Nortel Networks has posted its largest loss in the past seven years and announced another round of job cuts after customers cut their investment plans. The company lost US$3.4 billion in the 3rd quarter of this year - which included a write down of US$3.2 billion, compared to a profit of US$27 million a year ago. Revenue in the third quarter of US$2.32 billion decreased 14 percent year over year and down 1 percent on a year-to-date basis. more

China's ZTE is reported to be in talks with Motorola over a wider cooperation - which could presumably spark rumours about a possible merger of the two companies respective handset divisions.
