DoCoMo Invests in Mobile Camera Developer
Siimpel Corporation, a supplier of optical micro-electrical-mechanical systems (mems) based solutions for the mobile market, announced that it has completed an investment round in support of its mems technology and product development for mobile camera applications. DoCoMo Capital, the corporate venture arm of Japan's NTT DoCoMo has joined Siimpel's existing strategic investors from the mobile market which includes the venture arms of Qualcomm, Motorola, and Micron Technology. more

Qualcomm to Step Up Mirasol Display Production
Qualcomm mems Technologies and Cheng Uei Precision Industry (Foxlink) have announced an agreement to bring a new, dedicated fabrication plant to Taiwan to manufacture Qualcomm's next generation mirasol displays. The fabrication plant is slated to be fully operational in 2009. more

Inventec Sees Qualcomm’s mirasol Displays in Future Smartphones
Qualcomm mems Technologies has announced that Inventec Corp. has chosen it's mems-based mirasol displays for upcoming portable devices. The mirasol display will act as a secondary viewing area as a means to offload power needs from the main display. The design and functionality of the smartphone device will be revealed at a later date. more
