Ericsson Teams Up with Datang to Develop TD-LTE Systems
Ericsson has signed a memorandum of understanding with China's Datang Telecom Technology & Industry Holdings to jointly develop TDD solutions. As part of the memorandum of understanding, Ericsson will start integrating Datang's current TD-SCDMA radio access network equipment into its own 3G mobile communications offering. more

LTE the Only Road to Wireless 4G in China
Although competing 4G technologies will come to the fore in other countries, lte will be the only route to 4G wireless service in China, reports In-Stat. Qualcomm and Broadcom Wave a Paper and Declare "Peace For Our Time"
The acrimonious patent battle between Qualcomm and Broadcom is finally over. The two firms have entered into a settlement and multi-year patent agreement, which will result in the dismissal with prejudice of all litigation between the companies, including all patent infringement claims in the International Trade Commission and U.S. District Court in Santa Ana, as well as the withdrawal by Broadcom of its complaints to the European Commission and the Korea Fair Trade Commission. more

China Mobile Full-Year Profits Up 30 Percent
China Mobile has reported an 29.6 percent rise in its full-year earnings to reach RMB 112.8 billion (US$16.53 billion), but warned that profits growth slowed in the final quarter as competition intensified and the economic slowdown took its toll. Full-year operating revenues reached RMB 412.3 billion (US$60.4 billion), up 15.5 percent. year-on-year. more

Nokia Siemens Networks Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.1 Billion
China Mobile and China Unicom have separately signed agreements to purchase 2G and 3G mobile equipments and services from Nokia Siemens Networks during 2009. Under the framework agreements Nokia Siemens Networks will roll out WCDMA networks for China Unicom in 11 provinces across China. In addition, it will provide China Mobile with TD-SCDMA and GSM networks. more

Nortel Completes LTE-TDD Wireless Demo in China
Nortel says that it has successfully completed the first end-to-end video streaming session using a Time Division Duplex (TDD)-based lte network, working with commercial grade lte Base Station and device prototypes in China.
