Improving LTE Data Speeds at the Edges of Cells

Samsung Electronics Develops First Commercial LTE Modem for Mobile Phones

­Samsung says that it has developed the first lte modem that complies with the latest standards of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), which were released in March 2009. Aeroflex TM500 Test Mobile Adds UE CAT4 LTE Support

Aeroflex says that it has achieved a world first with the addition of UE CAT3 and UE CAT4 support to its TM500 lte Test Mobile. As implementation of the lte specification progressively moves towards the delivery of bandwidth-hungry applications users demand, lte CAT 3 and CAT 4 data channels support data rates of up to 150Mbps on the downlink and 50Mbps on the uplink. The UE CAT 3 and UE CAT 4 support on the TM500 lte now enables infrastructure vendors to fully verify and validate the performance of their eNBs.  more

UMPC Makers: Add WiMAX or 3G Cellular, or Get Out of the Way

LG Demos LTE Mobile Data Download speeds of 60 Mbps

LG Electronics has developed the first handset modem chip based on lte standards - which can theoretically support wireless download speeds of 100Mbps and upload speeds of 50Mbps. LG demonstrated the chip today at its Mobile Communication Technology Research Lab in Anyang, Korea, achieving wireless download speeds of 60 Mbps and upload speeds of 20 Mbps.  more
