ZTE to Deploy LTE Networks in Sweden and Denmark

Beceem Develops Dual-Mode WiMAX/LTE Chip

Beceem Communications says that it has upgraded one of its platforms to support multi-mode operation of WiMAX and lte, including live handoffs between the two technologies. The BCSi500 has the ability to automatically detect the network type and switch between WiMAX and lte through a unique multi-mode "autosense" feature. In addition the BCSi500 is also the world's first and currently only chip designed to reach up to 200Mbps peak throughput in a 20MHZ lte network.  more

Verizon Wireless Brings Forward LTE Handset Availability

Wavesat Shows Off LTE Chipset Supporting 100Mbps Download Speeds

First Active Handover Between LTE and CDMA Networks Demonstrated

LG and Nortel have demonstrated the world's first 3GPP standards compliant active handover of a data transmission between a lte network and a CDMA network. Inter-technology handover allowing mobile users the ability to move between lte and CDMA networks without losing data connectivity means that operators can run these networks concurrently without impacting services. Huawei Opens LTE Laboratory in North America

Huawei has announced the opening of a Long Term Evolution (lte) laboratory located in Texas, USA. Initially established with prototype equipment in the autumn of 2008, the facility has been upgraded to fully support commercial product releases for North America. The lab recently implemented Huawei's first commercial lte solution release targeted at operators in the United States and Canada. Additionally, local research and development teams are now able to work more closely with North American operators to rigorously test lte systems before delivery.  more
