Italy Urged to Provide Mobile Location Services for Emergency Calls

Caller location information is still not available to emergency services from all mobile 112 calls in Italy, as required by EU rules, despite a judgement from the European Court of Justice in January calling on Italy to make this happen. Europe commissions study into location based emergency services

Helios Technology has been selected as management consultants to assist the European Commission in developing a Europe-wide implementation strategy for enhanced emergency service, otherwise known as E-112. This service aims to provide the location of a mobile phone direct to the local emergency service, enabling a faster response to the incident, and is similar to the E911 service being developed in the USA. more
