Linux Groups Collaborate on Mobile Operating Systems

Two Linux development groups, the LiMo Foundation and GNOME Foundation have announced a key partnership with the objective of collaborating on open source innovation. Starting immediately, LiMo Foundation will become a member of GNOME Foundation's Advisory Board and GNOME Foundation will become an Industry Liaison Partner for LiMo Foundation. Private Equity Group Buys Sagem Mobile - Folds Assets into Purple Labs

Mobile Linux Trade Bodies Agree to Merge

The Linux Phone Standards (LiPS) Forum has announced that its activities and membership are to be folded into follow Mobile Linux forum, the LiMo Foundation from the end of this month. In a joint statement, they said that this pooling of efforts and resources reflects the industry-wide trend towards unification of Linux-based mobile telephony platforms and will serve to accelerate the emergence of common mobile Linux specifications and implementations.  more

Azingo Demonstrates Mobile Linux Solution on TI's OMAP Platform

Mobile Linux developer, Azingo is demonstrating its Azingo Mobile Linux platform on the Texas Instruments OMAP platform at Computex in Taiwan. The two companies are collaborating to provide mobile phone and internet device manufacturers with a cost-effective Linux platform based on LiMo Foundation software. Firefox Mobile Browser Developers Joins Mobile Linux Group

The mobile Linux OS trade group, LiMo Foundation has announced the addition of Infineon Technologies, Kvaleberg, Mozilla (the group behind the Firefox web browser), Red Bend Software, Sagem Mobiles, SFR, SK Telecom and Verizon Wireless as new member companies. Expanding LiMo's membership to 40 since the foundation's launch in January 2007, these companies join with existing LiMo members to collaborate on the LiMo Platform - a Linux-based software platform for mobile devices.  more
