LG Demos LTE Mobile Data Download speeds of 60 Mbps
lg Electronics has developed the first handset modem chip based on LTE standards - which can theoretically support wireless download speeds of 100Mbps and upload speeds of 50Mbps. lg demonstrated the chip today at its Mobile Communication Technology Research Lab in Anyang, Korea, achieving wireless download speeds of 60 Mbps and upload speeds of 20 Mbps. more

Nearly a Third of Phones Sold in South Korea are 3G Models
The market share of handsets supporting WCDMA and HSDPA networks increased remarkably in South Korea in 2007. The latest research report released by ROA Group found out that 30.7% of the handsets launched in 2007 supported WCDMA and HSDPA networks, while the figure was a mere 4% in 2006. Also the proportion of handsets supporting mobile WiMAX (WiBro) increased compared to the previous year. more

DoCoMo & KT Freetel to Jointly Procure 3G Phone from LG
Japan's DoCoMo and South Korea's KT Freetel have announced that they are to jointly procure a 3G handset model from lg Electronics. The handset is lg's WINE model, which DoCoMo will sell as the FOMA L706ie in Japan from August, while KTF plans to introduce the model in South Korea from September. more

LG Launches HSDPA Touchscreen Phone
lg Electronics has launched its HSDPA capable lg-KF700, a new multimedia
phone which the company says "combines three input methods to create an
amazingly intuitive user interface and provides instant access to
features."
The lg-KF700 is the first phone to integrate three separate input methods,
including a 3-inch touchscreen, alpha-numeric keypad and Shortcut Dial. Each of
these input methods is assigned to the tasks at which it is most best suited,
creating a user-optimized interface and making all of the phoneĆ's functions
and features instantly accessible.
