LG Claims 2 Million Touchscreen Phone Sales

LG Electronics has announced that its touchscreen phone, the LG Cookie (LG-KP500) has recorded over two million unit sales worldwide in the five months since its debut last October. More than 1.2 million handsets have been sold in Europe, and 600,000 Cookies have been sold in Asia and the emerging markets, including Latin America. In Korea, LG Cookie is currently the most popular handset with 100,000 units in accumulated sales as of March this year and record one-day sales of 4,500 units.  more

Fitch Revises Outlook to Negative on Samsung & LG Electronics

Fitch Ratings says that it has revised its rating Outlook on Samsung Electronics (SEC) and LG Electronics (LGE) to Negative from Stable. At the same time, Hynix Semiconductor's (Hynix) Long-term foreign currency (FC) IDR and senior unsecured debt ratings, which are currently at 'B+', remain on Rating Watch Negative (RWN).  more

LG Offers More Details of Flagship Touchscreen Phone

LG has given more details of the LG ARENA (LG-KM900) phone, which was previewed last week. ARENA, LG's new flagship model for 2009 features a totally new 3D user interface, which in some regards reflects how some Linux based computers can be configured to work. It is also the first and currently the only multimedia phone for the global market to use Dolby Mobile from Dolby Laboratories.  more

Orange to Sell LG Wrist-Watch Phone

Orange says that it will be the first operator to offer the LG Watch phone (LG G910) in Europe. The wrist watch style phone comes with a blue-tooth headset and features a full touch-screen interface, 3G HSDPA and video-calling capabilities.  more
