LG Shows Off Updated Touch-Screen Camera Phone
LG Electronics has shown off a new camera phone with an Intelligent Shot Mode that makes it easy to take pictures by automatically analyzing scenes and adjusting camera settings accordingly. This second incarnation of Viewty, the Smart (LG-GC900) offers an 8 megapixel sensor with sensitivity up to ISO 1600, a higher resolution WVGA touchscreen, a more intelligent image processor and LG's easy-to-use S-Class User Interface (UI). more

LG Claims 2 Million Touchscreen Phone Sales
LG Electronics has announced that its touchscreen phone, the LG Cookie (LG-KP500) has recorded over two million unit sales worldwide in the five months since its debut last October. More than 1.2 million handsets have been sold in Europe, and 600,000 Cookies have been sold in Asia and the emerging markets, including Latin America. In Korea, LG Cookie is currently the most popular handset with 100,000 units in accumulated sales as of March this year and record one-day sales of 4,500 units. more

Mobile Phone Shipments Continue Robust Growth in Q2
After an impressive first quarter, worldwide mobile phone shipments fell just short of an all-time high in the second quarter of 2006 with volume of 237.8 million units. The robust quarter was enough to boast a 2.1% increase from the first quarter, and 22.5% more than the same quarter one year ago. According to IDC's Worldwide Mobile Phone Tracker, 470.7 million units have shipped so far in 2006, which suggests that the industry may be close to shipping 1 billion units for the full year. more
Following two consecutive quarters of steady growth, the worldwide mobile phone market jumped during the fourth quarter to its highest level ever. According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, worldwide mobile phone shipments totaled 194.3 million units in 4Q04, growing 18.1% sequentially and 24% year over year. For the full year 2004, worldwide mobile phone shipments increased 29.3% over 2003. more
