KPN returns Telfort frequencies to the Dutch government
Netherlands based kpn is to return some of its 3G radio spectrum to the telecoms regulator following a court ruling earlier this year. The court ruled that kpn subsidiary, Telfort had not made full use of its 3G radio spectrum and imposed an ongoing series of fines until the spectrum was used. Handing the spectrum back to the regulator has capped the fines. more

Telfort Fined for Missing 3G License Obligations
Dutch mobile network, Telfort has been fined EUR5 million for failing to meet its 3G license conditions. In a statement from the Dutch Telecom Agency, it was said that the operator had under-utilised its 3G radio spectrum. more

Telefonica Mulling KPN Takeover Bid
The wave of European telco consolidation continued today with reports that Spain's Telefonica is considering a bid for the Dutch kpn Group. The German language Financial Times Deutschland reported that Telefonica had been mulling its options and had begun working out the financial viability of a takeover and the potential cost savings it could engender. more
