Qualcomm sets up Brazilian venture to promote its BREW platform
Qualcomm and the cellular operators that form the joint venture between Portugal Telecom and Telefonica Moviles in Brazil have signed an agreement for the commercial launch of wireless application services powered by Qualcomm's BREW solution. The joint venture plans to roll out applications and services based on the Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW) platform on its high-speed data network in March. more

ArrayComm kit used in Japanese high speed network
ArrayComm's IntelliCell technology is playing a critical role in the new 128 kbps data service that Japan's kddi launched yesterday on its PHS network. By leveraging IntelliCell technology, currently deployed in Kyocera Corp.'s base stations, DDI-Pocket's three million subscribers can access the Internet from handheld cellular phones or PCMCIA cards at data speeds up to 128 kbps. DDI-Pocket can now offer data rates close to the 144-kbps and up. more
