Nortel Wins Czech GSM-R Expansion Contract
Czech Railways has selected Nortel GSM-R technology to provide wireless communications to the 207 km Czech section of the International Railway Corridor IV between Austria and Poland. Nortel partner Kapsch CarrierCom will supply and deploy the network. The project began in June 2009 and is scheduled for completion by end of 2009. more

Mobilkom austria has started using an enhanced network based on a IMS-ready Mobile Switching Center (MSC) solution supplied by Kapsch CarrierCom and Nortel. Austria's mobilkom has selected MetaSolv Network Mediation as the convergent mediation platform for its GSM, GPRS and UMTS services. Network Mediation combines support for GSM voice switches with a vendor-independent GPRS & UMTS Charging Gateway, and support for a broad suite of SMS, MMS, and WAP application servers. more

Austria to get location based services
The Austrian GSM network, mobilkom austria has chosen Redknee and Kapsch CarrierCom to deliver a location system based on 3GPP standards to support GSM and UMTS networks in Austria. Redknee's Location System for GSM and UMTS networks will be distributed through Kapsch CarrierCom, and enables subscriber services to be linked with location-based services. Using Redknee's Location System these 'location-aware' subscriber services will be delivered across both 2G and 3G networks. more
Slovak Republic getting a GSM-R network
Nortel Networks has won a GMS-R contract from Kapsch CarrierCom on behalf of Slovak Railways. Under an agreement Nortel Networks will supply Kapsch CarrierCom with a complete network infrastructure solution -- including GSM-R compliant radio base stations and switching equipment -- to connect Slovak Railways to the railway communications networks of the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary. more
