Afghan Wireless has been formally awarded a national GSM Mobile Wireless Service License by the Ministry of Communications of the Transitional Islamic Government of Afghanistan. The license will be signed by officials from the Ministry and Afghan Wireless in a ceremony on July 10 at the Ministry Offices in downtown kabul. more

Kabul's police and fire services given GSM handsets
Afghanistan's first GSM network, Afghan Wireless has donated 30 GSM handsets and mobile service to kabul's police and fire departments. The donation will be utilized to facilitate emergency response throughout the city of kabul. Afghan Wireless' presentation of the mobile phones and GSM local mobile service took place on 24 October, 2002 at the Ministry of Interior in kabul. Prior to this event, kabul police and fire response units were hindered by limited access to communications. more
