Hutchison Telecom Confirms Spin-Off Plans for Hong Kong Holdings
Hong Kong based Hutchison Telecom has reported a 16% rise in full-year revenues to HK$24 billion (US$3.1 billion) and an increase of 16.8% in EBITDA to HK$6.14 billion (US$791 million). Net income dropped precipitously to HK$1.88 billion (US$242 million) from the extraordinary HK66.8 billion a year ago - which was largely due to the one-off gain from the sale of its Indian interests to Vodafone. more

Buongiorno Wins Contract With 3 Businesses in the UK and Ireland
Italian mobile content vendor, Buongiorno says that it has won the bid for the outsourcing of Hutchison 3G's Mobile's java Games Platform in the UK & Ireland. This will be the first significant implementation of a Games Store by Buongiorno since the merger with UK's iTouch last year, and the first to be implemented by the Group in the UK & Ireland. more

Nokia Siemens Wins Indonesian GSM Expansion Contract
Nokia Siemens Networks has signed a contract with Hutchison Telecom Indonesia (HCPT) to strengthen HCPT's GSM/WCDMA network coverage in the islands of java and Sumatra, and roll out GSM core networks in Kalimantan and Sulawesi. This contract supplements HCPT's first network contract with Siemens Indonesia in 2005. more

Hutchison Reports Record 2007 Profits on Disposals
Hutchison Telecom has reported a record annual profit of HK$67,776 million (US$8.7 billion) for last year, thanks largely to disposals. Turnover increased by 13.8% to HK$20,401 million (US$2.63 billion) reflecting a 57% growth in the customer base to nearly 10 million, increased usage especially in 3G and favourable foreign currency exchange rates. EBITDA increased to HK$5,253 million despite losses at start up operations in Indonesia and Vietnam, and HK$223 million non-cash charge for employee stock options, representing an EBITDA margin of 25.7%. Excluding the start up operations the EBITDA margin would have been 29.4%. more
