IPWireless Sold to its Management
ipwireless was been sold to its management by its parent company, NextWave Wireless and secured long term financing with a significant (if unnamed) strategic partner. ipwireless was founded in 1999 and was acquired in May, 2007 by NextWave Wireless and became part of the NextWave Network Products division. In an announcement on December 26, 2008 NextWave disclosed that it had sold 75 percent of ipwireless to IPW Holdings, an entity formed by the senior ipwireless management team. more

IPWireless Ships 600th 3G TD-CDMA Base Station to T-Mobile

NextWave Wireless to Purchase Mori Trust Interest in IPMobile
NextWave Wireless says that it is buying all the shares in the Japan based, IPMobile which are held by Mori Trust. Upon closing of the transaction, NextWave will hold a 69.2% stake in IPMobile. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. more

Another Mobile TV Format Trial in the UK
3UK, Orange, Telefonica, and Vodafone have announced the launch of a technical trial of another mobile TV format, TDtv - the UMTS TD-CDMA-3GPP Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Services (MBMS) standard-based solution. The TDtv trial, which is scheduled to run to the end of the year, will test key performance and deployment aspects of the mobile TV technology. TDtv base stations provided by ipwireless have been deployed on 12 cell sites covering parts of Bristol in the UK to provide broadcast services to TDtv enabled smart phones. more
IPWireless Signs Manufacturing Agreement for TD-CDMA Products
ipwireless has announced Solectron as the exclusive provider of outsourced new product introduction (NPI) and manufacturing services. Under the terms of the agreement, Solectron will be the exclusive provider of outsourced NPI services for new products introduced by ipwireless and will be the exclusive provider of outsourced manufacturing for ipwireless-supplied UMTS TD-CDMA mobile broadband equipment, including base stations and modems. more
