eBay Confirms Skype Disposal - Via Stock Market Floatation
eBay has announced that it plans to separate Skype from the company, beginning with an initial public offering that is intended to be completed in the first half of 2010. Specific timing of the ipo will be based on market conditions. more

The USA based Nextel Communications announced yesterday that it is exchanging US$857 million of senior debt of its Nextel International wireless unit for 21.6 million shares of Nextel common stock, now worth just US$274 million. Nextel will record an extraordinary gain on this transaction in its third quarter 2001 consolidated financial statements due to the substantial discount of the exchange relative to the book value of the senior notes. The swap cuts its debt load 5% as the company had about $17.3 billion of debt and $4.7 billion of cash and cash equivalents at the end of June. The company cancelled plans for an ipo in March due to the downturn in the telecoms stocks. The company operates an iDEN network in the USA and parts of South America." more
