AdMob Sees Rising Apple Device Traffic from Western Europe/Asia

Mobile advertising agency, AdMob has reported that while North America leads with 58 percent of iphone and iPod touch users, Western Europe and Asia have increasingly become popular geographic regions, representing 26 and seven percent of Apple device users, respectively. The worldwide ratio of iphone to iPod touch users in the AdMob network was roughly two to one in June; although this varied from region to region, this ratio has remained relatively constant over the last several months, implying a similar growth rate for both devices worldwide.  more

40% of iPhone Owners Use Mobile Internet More than Fixed

Apple and Android Devices See Strongest Relative Usage of Mobile Web Sites

Mobile advertising agency, AdMob, has compared smartphone market share to mobile Web usage to determine that smartphones accounted for nearly 3 times more usage than their relative market share in its April 2009 Mobile Metrics Report. The report also compares usage of mobile Web sites to usage of HTML sites on mobile devices, finding that relative usage of both is highest on Apple and Android devices.  more

It is not just the iphone platform that is attractive to advertisers

The iphone and devices that are following in its wake provide the best platform yet for enabling mobile advertising because they are optimised for rich media applications like video and also provide a genuinely good mobile browsing experience. This means the potential for better, more creative mobile advertising campaigns and of course a more engaging user experience. Another big plus for advertising on the iphone is the kind of people that own them. Comscore recently released data about iphone application users that suggests they are a particularly attractive demographic for advertisers, with higher than average incomes and higher than average engagement with online media. More than half (54%) of app users are in households with incomes greater than $75,000 per year. Engagement with online retail scored particularly highly, which suggests they could be open to mobile commerce that by its nature has a strong affinity with mobile advertising.  more

iPhone Showing High Wi-Fi Usage Rates in the USA and UK

Mobile advertising agency, AdMob has highlighted growing Wi-Fi usage in the US and the UK in its November Metrics Report. Worldwide iphone requests grew 52 percent month over month to 359 million in November, giving the iphone 6.3 percent of total requests. In the US the iphone is now the top device with 9.9 percent of requests.  more
