Fitch Downgrades Sprint Nextel's IDR to 'BB'; Outlook Negative
Debt ratings agency, Fitch has downgraded Sprint Nextel's Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to 'BB' with a negative outlook. Fitch says that Sprint Nextel's downgrade is reflective of the significant continued revenue declines primarily due to the high subscriber losses as well as the limited visibility over the timing and the extent of how overall operating trends might improve during 2009. In particular, the iDEN operations have continued a sharp deterioration of its operating metrics. more

Court Gives Sprint Just One Year to Leave Nextel Network in iPCS Territory
A US court has given Sprint Nextel about a year to abandon its Nextel network in the territory of one of its wireless affiliates, ipcs Wireless following a lengthy and acrimonious court battle. The order requires Sprint to cease owning, operating and managing the Nextel wireless network in ipcs Wireless' service area on or before January 25, 2010. The order provides that Sprint may request an extension of that period upon a showing of good cause. more
