Picocell vendor, ip.access has announced that Monaco Telecom will deploy its nanoBTS picocell system, to boost the operator's mobile network capacity during the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. Femtocells Can Connect 3G Phones to Home Media Centres
UK based ip.access says that it has developed new 3G Home Routing technology that connects 3G phones into a home network via its Oyster 3G femtocell. The new platform provide a real-time "bridge" between the userÃ's home network and any 3G handset. Using a femtocell, a 3G phone can connect directly to a home network and access files and information stores on computers or a media centre. more

Femtocell developer, ip.access has announced that Cisco has made an investment in the company. Terms of the investment were not disclosed. Already cash-positive with its existing 2G picocell business, ip.access has secured funding from an array of industry supporters for its Oyster 3G femtocell, which is currently in trials with major mobile network operators globally. Existing ip.access investors include Scottish Equity Partners, Rothschild Gestion, Intel Capital, Amadeus Capital Partners, ADC and Motorola Ventures. more

ip.access says that its nanoGSM picocell solution has successfully completed testing for interoperability with VSAT satellite equipment from iDirect, the satellite-based broadband access solutions developer. ip.access has joined iDirect's IP Alliance, and the two companies now offer a proven solution for enhancing GSM coverage and capacity in remote locations worldwide. more
Altobridge Split-BSC Solution Cuts Remote GSM Costs
ip.access says that Altobridge, a developer of mobile systems for remote communications, is launching a low-cost satellite backhaul solution for the provision of remote cellular coverage using ip.access nanoBTS picocells. The new solution enables mobile network operators to serve small remote user groups of 100 subscribers with a single picocell, reducing operating costs to less than US$5 per subscriber per month and removing the need for expensive towers. more
