Nortel Upgrading German GSM-R Network
Germany's national railway, Deutsche Bahn has ordered a GSM-R upgrade from Nortel Networks. Nortel first deployed GSM-R - a wireless technology, specially designed to meet the needs of railways - for Deutsche Bahn in 1999, and the current upgrade is key to Deutsche Bahn's long term development plans. more

Nokia Siemens Wins Chinese GSM-R Contract
Nokia Siemens Networks has won a contract to provide a GSM-R network for China's Hefei-Nanjing high-speed passenger railway. The 166 kilometer-long Hefei-Nanjing Line, connecting the capitals of Anhui and Jiangsu provinces in the Yangtze River Delta, is an integral part of the "Four Longitudinal and Four Horizontal" Passenger Service Network. The line, to be put into operation in early 2008, will become China's first newly built passenger-dedicated line for commercial use at speeds of 200 km/h. more

China Ministry of Railways and Nortel Networks have signed an agreement under which Nortel Networks will provide a GSM for Railways (GSM-R) digital wireless communications network for trial on the world's highest rail line - the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. more
