Siemens Wins 3G Contract in Indonesia

Siemens Networks says that it has been awarded a contract for construction of a 3G network by Indonesia's Telkomsel. The framework agreement between Siemens and Telkomsel, which will run for three years, covers delivery of 3G radio access networks and radio relay technology for large parts of Telkomsel's network as well as turnkey implementation and technical services for network operation by Siemens. more

Lucent Supplies Vodafone Home Phone Service

Vodafone Italy has deployed a Lucent intelligent network solution for its HomeZone project and the carrier has launched "Vodafone Casa" commercial service. Vodafone Portugal Updates PrePay Billing Platform

Lucent Technologies says that it has completed the deployment of a real-time charging solution for mobile messaging for Vodafone Portugal. The mobile messaging solution helps Vodafone Portugal better manage prepaid customer accounts, and more easily track and charge for all services in real-time. Under the agreement, Lucent supplied Vodafone Portugal with a customized hardware and software solution and the necessary network integration services to deploy the real-time charging capability. more

Nigerian Operator Doubling Network Capacity

Mtel, the Mobile subsidiary of Nigeria's state owned telecommunications outfit, has unveiled plans to increase the capacity of the network by an additional two and half million lines, a more than 200% increase on the existing 1.2 million lines capacity. The lines will be in place in the next six months. The Board of Mtel, with Nigeria's Communication Minister Chief Cornelius Adebayo as Chairman, approved the "network augmentation" programme, involving vendor financing in September 2005. The vendors are Ericcson, Huawei, ZTE, Motorola, Nokia and Siemens. more

LogicaCMG says that it has deployed a major mobile messaging and mobile payments upgrade with Malaysia's Celcom, serving over 5 million prepaid subscribers.
