Telia predicts SMS record on Christmas Eve

Using the phone to wish people a Merry Christmas is becoming more and more popular in Sweden. One-third of the 10,000 people who responded to Telia's annual Christmas survey stated that they would prefer to call, or send an SMS or MMS message, to convey their Christmas greetings. Telia is predicting that the Swedish people will set a record for SMS messages this year during the 24-hour Christmas Eve period. more

6 million photos sent on Telia mobiles this summer

This summer people in Sweden have sent a record number of MMS messages. During June-August, 6.1 million MMS messages were sent through Telia's mobile network, an increase of 56%, compared with the same period last year. The number of subscribers with camera-equipped mobile phones has doubled during the past year, and in July, approximately two million Telia customers were able to send images from their mobile handsets. more

Free mobile surfing and MMS on weekends this summer

Sweden's Telia is offering subscribers free MMS and GPRS service on all Saturdays and Sundays between April 30 and August 31 this year. According to a recent survey carried out by SIFO Research & Consulting (SIFO), four out of ten people in Sweden have access to an MMS-enabled mobile handset today. more
