The worldÃ's first authorised in-flight mobile phone calls on a commercial flight took place recently following the successful installation of the AeroMobile system by Emirates Airline. Emirates Allowing Cellphone Use in Flight
The airline, Emirates has signed a deal with AeroMobile to offer in-flight mobile phone coverage. AeroMobile, has developed an aircraft system which controls the power output of all mobile phones down to the minimum level allowing their safe use onboard aircraft. The Dubai-based airline expects to launch the service on board one of its Boeing 777s as early as January 2007, once all necessary approvals have been granted. more

TECORE Wireless Systems says that it has launched FlightCore, an in-flight, all-IP GSM/CDMA wireless communications system for aircraft. The FlightCore system is currently being trialed with a leading airborne operator, and the operations of the system is coordinated with aircraft instrumentation using time, location, altitude and other relevant data in provisioning services to subscribers on-board. more
