NEC Wins "Super 3G" Contract in Japan

Japan's NTT DoCoMo has contracted with NEC to provide core network EPC (Evolved Packet Core) systems that support NTT DoCoMo's "Super 3G" next generation mobile phone networks. Super3G is a standard system and an advanced version of the W-CDMA-extended technologies HSDPA and HSUPA, which achieves data transmission speeds of 100Mbps or more in downlink and 50Mbps or more in uplink access.  more

Carriers name Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens top IMS vendors

A new study by Infonetics Research that provides an in-depth view of service provider thinking and plans for ims equipment and services, including service provider perceptions of leading ims vendors, names Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, and Nokia Siemens as the "top ims equipment manufacturers." According to the study, roughly 3/4 plan to offer fixed VoIP over ims by April 2009.  more
