Carriers name Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens top IMS vendors

A new study by Infonetics Research that provides an in-depth view of service provider thinking and plans for ims equipment and services, including service provider perceptions of leading ims vendors, names Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, and Nokia Siemens as the "top ims equipment manufacturers." According to the study, roughly 3/4 plan to offer fixed VoIP over ims by April 2009.  more

T-Mobile USA, Orange heat up FMC infrastructure market

According to a new report from analyst firm Infonetics Research, the worldwide fixed-mobile convergence infrastructure equipment market, including UMA network controllers and multi-access convergence gateways, grew nearly 5-fold from 2006 to 2007 and is forecast to grow another 10-fold between 2007 and 2011.  more

Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom Orders Next-Gen IMS Platform

Nokia Siemens Networks has sealed a deal with Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom for its Next Generation Network ims (NGN ims). This is the first contract award from Chunghwa for its five-year NGN plan. Nokia Siemens Networks will deliver to Chunghwa infrastructure and services as part of its ims Core solution, and will also provide its consumers and business customers VoIP and fixed softswitching solutions. These should enable Chunghwa to be the first operator in Asia-Pacific to introduce ims-based VoIP services.  more

Huawei Selected by Warid to Deploy IMS in Uganda

Huawei says that Warid Group, the fast-growing mobile service provider in South Asia and Africa, has selected it to deploy an ims (IP Multimedia Subsystem) system in Uganda. Huawei will construct the ims core network and integrate it with the WiMAX access network, helping Warid to offer VoIP and IP-based multimedia services.  more
