Research firm, idc says that the telecommunications data services market in emerging Asian countries (defined as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam) is projected to collectively grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 36% from 2007-2011. The data segment, which includes mobile data services, fixed line corporate data and Internet access services, grew strongly at 258% year-on-year in 2006, reaching US$952 million. more

The overall satisfaction score of mobile handset users in India has declined for the first time in three years, according to a study from idc. The study points out that even the brand with the maximum proportion of 'satisfied' users, Sony-Ericsson, has seen a drop. Motorola emerged No. 2 on overall satisfaction score, displacing Nokia to the third place. Motorola was rated as the 'most improved' brand, with significant increase in satisfaction scores for the brand. more

IDC: Telecoms outsourcing mkt set to grow 14.5%/yr
The market includes three main areas: data service management, voice outsourcing and full outsourcing. The latter is in fact set to grow 20-30% a year in Brazil and is growing faster than telecoms outsourcing such as data and voice services, idc analyst Alex Zago told BNamericas. more
