Icera to Acquire Sirific Wireless for RF CMOS Technology
UK based software defined wireless modem chipset developer, icera has announced plans to merge with Sirific Wireless, a fabless semiconductor company specializing in CMOS RF transceivers. icera says that the merger will enable it to deliver a complete chipset solution for the mobile broadband market, which industry analysts expect to grow from just 90 million subscribers today to 1.3 billion by 2012. more

HSDPA PC Card Platform Offering Soft-Upgrade to 7.2Mbps
icera has announced availability of its first Adaptive Wireless HSDPA Datacard Platform, which is enabling cellular datacard vendors to be first to market with next generation 3GPP Release 5 multimode HSDPA products. The platform supports Adaptive Wireless software delivering peak data-rates of 3.6Mbps and is fully scalable to 7.2Mbps and HSUPA - without hardware change. more
Siemens Mobile director joins mobile semiconductor firm
icera, the new cellular wireless semiconductor company, has announced the appointment of Rick Dingle as Vice President Platforms. Dingle, who was previously CTO at Siemens Mobile Phones, will lead icera's strategic platform development for cellular devices and further strengthen the management team as it prepares to introduce breakthrough processor and software baseband technology products to the mobile industry. more
