Comverse has announced that 3 Hong Kong, the mobile operation of Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong, has launched Hong Kong's first visual voicemail service. Instead of dialing in for voice messages, users can see information about each voicemail in a message inbox, such as sender, time of call and message length and then click and listen to any message. Users also can delete and reply any message. more

Hutchison Telecom Confirms Spin-Off Plans for Hong Kong Holdings
Hong Kong based Hutchison Telecom has reported a 16% rise in full-year revenues to HK$24 billion (US$3.1 billion) and an increase of 16.8% in EBITDA to HK$6.14 billion (US$791 million). Net income dropped precipitously to HK$1.88 billion (US$242 million) from the extraordinary HK66.8 billion a year ago - which was largely due to the one-off gain from the sale of its Indian interests to Vodafone. more

Vodafone Raising Funds for India's 3G Auction
Vodafone Essar is reported to be currently trying to raise US$2 billion as a bridging loan to finance its bids in the country's delayed 3G and WiMAX auctions. The current reserve price for the 3G auction is US$412 million to cover all the available circles - although the auction has been delayed as the Finance Ministry is battling to double the reserve to at least US$824 million. more

Hutchison Telecom Adds Over 11 Million Subscribers in Q3
Hutchison Telecom has reported that during the 3rd quarter of this year, it maintained growth in a quarter where overall economic conditions were turbulent. Its total user base grew to 11.2 million with strong contribution from Indonesian operations which grew 12.5% quarterly. Established markets Hong Kong and Israel recorded significant growth in 3G customers and continued to report progress in all other operational parameters. more

Hutchison Telecom Profts Jump on Indonesian One-Off Sales
Hutchison Telecom has reported a 22% rise in turnover for the first half of this year, to HK$11.8 billion (US$1.51 billion) compared with the same period last year. The Group's mobile customer base grew 68% in the past 12 months to 11.1 million, with a significant percentage of the increase comes from Indonesia. Hutchison Telecom also said that it continued to register a healthy growth of 3G customers in Israel, Hong Kong and Macau. more
