Huawei Full-Year Profits Jump 20 Percent
China's huawei Technologies has bucked the economic downturn and reported a 20% rise in full year profits for 2008 to US$1.15 billion. Revenues rose by 43% to reach $18.33 billion - slightly above the unaudited figures offered earlier this year. more

The global telecommunications equipment market grew by close to 5% in 2008: a moderate rate of growth that involved a shift in the contribution made by handset components and infrastructure hardware reports IDATE. IMS equipment market up 94% in 2008, subscribers to triple in 2009
Communications market research firm Infonetics Research says in a report that worldwide sales of IMS (IP multimedia subsystem) equipment, including HSS (home subscriber servers) and CSCF servers, nearly doubled in 2008 over 2007, up 94%. Thai Operator to Push Ahead with 3G Network Rollout

Ovum has published its preliminary 4Q08 and full-year 2008 results for global optical equipment networking vendors, and reports that the global optical networking (ON) market topped $4 billion for the fourth time in five quarters, increasing 4% sequentially, but was down 5% versus 4Q07. Spending for the full year was up 9% over 2007 to $16.3 billion. more
