Taiwan's smartphone shipments are expected to continue to rise during in the second half of 2009, riding on the growth momentum that began to emerge at the end of the second quarter. Worldwide Mobile Phone Sales Down 6% - Smartphones Up 27% in Q2

Worldwide mobile phone sales totalled 286.1 million units in the second quarter of 2009, a 6.1 per cent decrease from the second quarter of 2008, according to Gartner. Smartphone sales surpassed 40 million units, a 27 per cent increase from the same period last year, representing the fastest-growing segment of the mobile-devices market.  more
