Israeli Operator Orders 3G Fault Management Platform
OSS vendor, TTI Telecom has been chosen by Israel's Pelephone to provide the Fault Management solution for the operator's UMTS network. The solution expands upon Pelephone's current OSS solution, also provided by TTI Telecom in 1996, which manages CDMA 1xRTT and EVDO based on Nortel and Motorola products. more

GSA Says Over 200 HSDPA Networks Worldwide
Over 200 HSDPA systems worldwide have launched commercial mobile broadband services, according to the latest research published by GSA, the Global mobile Suppliers Association. The GSA survey confirms 207 HSDPA networks have launched in 89 countries. This compares with 126 commercial HSDPA networks in 63 countries reported by GSA 12 months previously. more

Italian Mobile Communications: Market Ready to Face New Challenges
Italy has the highest 3G penetration in Europe and 3Italia achieved over 700,000 subscribers for its Mobile TV service by August 2007. Now iPhone is taking centre stage over the UMTS networks of mobile operators TIM and Vodafone. O2 Germany forms partnership with Huawei to expand its networks
O2 Germany has chosen Huawei Technologies as one of its partners for the expansion of the O2 mobile network in Germany. The agreement includes both the replacement of existing base stations and the planned construction of more than 8,000 base stations by Huawei for GSM and UMTS. more

Mexico's Telcel Launches HSDPA Coverage
Mexico's Telcel has announced the commercial launch of its HSDPA service - initially in four cities - with plans to expand service to nine additional cities, for a total of thirteen cities covered in this first phase of HSDPA deployment. With the launch of 3G services in Mexico by Telcel, its parent company, Amƒ©rica Mƒ³vil, has now completed eight commercial UMTS/HSDPA 3G networks in Latin America, operated by Argentina CTI, Brazil Claro, Chile Claro, Colombia Comcel, El Salvador Claro, Uruguay CTI and Paraguay CTI. more

Qualcomm and Huawei in 3G Cooperation
Qualcomm and Huawei say that they have signed a technology transfer agreement for Node B (base station) receiver design that can benefit all UMTS systems, Release 99 and onwards. For example, the agreement covers new technology that can boost the data throughput performance of High Speed Uplink Packet Access (hsupa) networks by up to 60 percent. Technology transferred by Qualcomm under this agreement will enable Huawei to deploy 3G networks in markets using any UMTS-based technologies. more
