Top-five handset OEM signs first Coolteq deal
Nujira, a developer of mobile phone platforms says that it has signed a deal with an unnamed handset manufacturer to provide its Coolteq-l handset development platform. The unnamed customer is reported to be one of the world's top five handset makers. more

Telefonica Conducts 1st Tests of LTE Network in Spain
Spain's Telefónica has conducted its first tests on a live LTE network, installed at its Demonstrations Centre in Madrid. These initial real demonstrations or tests consisted of a VoIP call, and a videocall using an LTE mini-network installed by Ericsson; a video conference, and data and images downloads at speeds in excess of 140 Mbps, around 10 times those possible with current 3G networks using HSPA technology. more

Italian Mobile Communications: Market Ready to Face New Challenges
Italy has the highest 3G penetration in Europe and 3Italia achieved over 700,000 subscribers for its Mobile TV service by August 2007. Now iPhone is taking centre stage over the UMTS networks of mobile operators TIM and Vodafone. "This looks like it's a done deal and if it is the case, then it just goes to show that between the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008 Italy has been a hotbed for mobile communications" says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Saverio Romeo. more
