Telefonica Conducts 1st Tests of LTE Network in Spain
Spain's Telefónica has conducted its first tests on a live LTE network, installed at its Demonstrations Centre in Madrid. These initial real demonstrations or tests consisted of a VoIP call, and a videocall using an LTE mini-network installed by Ericsson; a video conference, and data and images downloads at speeds in excess of 140 Mbps, around 10 times those possible with current 3G networks using HSPA technology. more

Austria Gets Europe's First HSPA+ Mobile Data Network
Telekom Austria's mobile subsidiary, mobilkom austria, has become the first operator in Europe to launch HSPA+ services - offering a potential mobile data download speed of 21 Mbps. In a first step, HSPA+ will be rolled-out in Vienna's 10th district, with further hotspots following throughout the country by the second quarter of 2009. more

T-Mobile's UK 3G/HSPA network has been judged the best in the UK in independent tests carried out by test house, P3 Solutions over the last quarter. The tests benchmark T-Mobile against its competitors by measuring customer experiences that matter most to users during peak usage hours across 16 cities throughout the UK. When measured against its competitors, T-Mobile was found on aggregate to be fastest for internet upload and download speeds as well as for web browsing and for sending and receiving emails. more

StarHub Tripple 3G Data Upload Speeds
Singapore's StarHub has upgraded its HSPA network nationwide to 5.76Mbps on the uplink, tripling its current mobile broadband upload capacity of 1.9Mbps. When completed in end December 2008, the upgrade will make StarHub the first operator in Asia to have a nationwide High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (hsupa) network at 5.76Mbps. more

Vodafone Starts Selling 3G PC Card for 900Mhz HSPA Networks
Option has started shipping a new wireless broadband ExpressCard to Vodafone - which also supports HSPA services at 900Mhz. Exclusively developed for the Vodafone Group and its Partner Networks, the new ExpressCard is designed to achieve peak HSDPA download speeds of 7.2 Mbps with hsupa uploads at up to 5.76 Mbps - depending on the network availability. more
