Telecom Italia Launches 28Mbps Mobile Download Service
Telecom Italia has launched what it says is the first city-wide mobile broadband service offering peak speeds of 28 Mbps/s in download and 5.8 Mbps/s in upload. The service has launched in Milan, Italy and will be available in Rome from October. The upgrade was provided by Ericsson. more

HSPA accounts for 11.6% of PC broadband connections in Europe
According to a new research report from the analyst firm Berg Insight, hspa accounted for 11.6 percent of the total number of broadband connections in Europe at the end of 2008. The number of hspa/LTE mobile broadband subscribers (connected PCs) grew by 74 percent year-on-year in 2008 to reach 14.6 million and is forecasted to continue to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30 percent to 70 million in 2014. more

AT&T Boosts 3G Data Speeds - Outlines LTE Upgrade Path

Telefonica Conducts 1st Tests of LTE Network in Spain
Spain's Telefónica has conducted its first tests on a live LTE network, installed at its Demonstrations Centre in Madrid. These initial real demonstrations or tests consisted of a VoIP call, and a videocall using an LTE mini-network installed by Ericsson; a video conference, and data and images downloads at speeds in excess of 140 Mbps, around 10 times those possible with current 3G networks using hspa technology. more
