Industry predicts 21 Mbps to be next mobile broadband baseline
Mobile broadband is continuing to grow at a fast pace due to the ever increasing introduction of new technologies, new networks, new devices and competitive innovation in the market. In July, the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) announced that 7.2 Mbps had become the new baseline for mobile broadband globally, since at that time half of the hspa networks in commercial service globally were capable of supporting a peak downlink data speed of 7.2 Mbps or higher, supported by almost 600 user devices capable of 7.2 Mbps or higher which had been launched in the market. Some hspa systems support a peak downlink data speed up to 14.4 Mbps. more

GSA Survey Confirms 1,739 HSPA Devices Launched and 80% growth

Telecom Italia Launches 28Mbps Mobile Download Service
Telecom Italia has launched what it says is the first city-wide mobile broadband service offering peak speeds of 28 Mbps/s in download and 5.8 Mbps/s in upload. The service has launched in Milan, Italy and will be available in Rome from October. The upgrade was provided by Ericsson. more

Vodafone Greece Offers 21.6 Mbps Mobile Download Speeds
Vodafone Greece has announced the launch of a hspa+ (High Speed Packet Access) upgrade to its network, offering peak speeds of 21.6 Mbps (download) and 5.7 Mbps (upload). New upgraded services will initially be provided in selected areas of Athens, which will be continuously expanded. more

Dialog Telekom Testing HSPA+ Upgrade in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka's Dialog Telekom is reported to have started a pilot launch of a hspa+ (hspa Evolution) upgrade on its network, which will boost download speeds to a peak rate of 21Mbps. The typical download speeds are closer to 8Mbps in real life tests carried out by Australia's Telstra network. more

Hong Kong Network Launches HSPA+ Upgrade

Austria Gets Europe's First HSPA+ Mobile Data Network
