Industry predicts 21 Mbps to be next mobile broadband baseline
Mobile broadband is continuing to grow at a fast pace due to the ever increasing introduction of new technologies, new networks, new devices and competitive innovation in the market. In July, the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) announced that 7.2 Mbps had become the new baseline for mobile broadband globally, since at that time half of the hspa networks in commercial service globally were capable of supporting a peak downlink data speed of 7.2 Mbps or higher, supported by almost 600 user devices capable of 7.2 Mbps or higher which had been launched in the market. Some hspa systems support a peak downlink data speed up to 14.4 Mbps. more

Nearly 44 Million HSPA Connections in APEJ by Year-End

Vodafone to Offer Wi-Fi Based Mobile Broadband Device
Vodafone is launching a Wi-Fi hotspot application that will enable users to connect up to five devices to the same mobile broadband connection. The "Vodafone Mobile Broadband Hotspot" will initially be available in Germany, Romania and Spain and will support hspa connectivity up to 7.2 Mbps. more

"Gigabyte-ready" network pricing could boost mobile broadband growth
The widespread deployment of hspa has increased the speed and data capacity of 3G networks dramatically, removing technology barriers of launching true mass market mobile broadband. But simply upgrading to hspa technology is not sufficient if operators are also to profit from new & faster mobile data services.
